Padel injuries:
elbow, knee, calf and Achilles
What padel injures most
Studies that followed padel players put the elbow at the top of the list of injuries, ahead of the knee, the shoulder and the lower back. Most are tendon and muscle injuries1.
Among recreational players, more than one in three got injured over the year, and more than half of the injuries were to the legs. Half of the injured players were back on court within a month2.
Studies of padel players place the elbow first among injuries, ahead of the knee, the shoulder and the lower back; among recreational players, more than one in three is injured within the year, and half of them return within a month. Cold and compression ease the pain and swelling of the first days, in sessions of 30 minutes for the elbow and ankle and 90 minutes for the knee and calf.
The elbow
The pain most often comes from the tendons1. After a sudden injury, cold and compression work on the pain and swelling of the first days. For a tendon pain that has been there for a long time, they mainly make the elbow more comfortable.
The Game Ready® elbow wrap covers the joint. Sessions last 30 minutes, at 4 °C, as often as possible, with low compression in the first week, then medium.
The knee
Among non-professional players, the knee is the most frequently injured area in a German study3. When a meniscus or cruciate ligament injury leads to surgery, our articles cover what comes next: Meniscus surgery recovery and ACL recovery timeline.
The knee wrap is used in sessions of 90 minutes, as often as possible.
The calf and the Achilles tendon
Across all levels, the lower leg, the ankle and the foot make up the most injured area in the same study3.
A calf tear is treated like other muscle injuries, with the calf wrap, in sessions of 90 minutes (see Sports injury recovery at home). For the Achilles tendon, it is the ankle wrap that is used, in sessions of 30 minutes. A removable boot comes off for the session and goes back on afterwards.
How the rental works
A member of the KOLDE team delivers the device within 24 hours, in Dubai and in the six other emirates, fits the wrap and starts the first session with you. The Compex® SP 8.0 can also be rented when a joint is immobilised, to keep the muscles around it working. A dedicated customer service team stays reachable throughout your rental.
Common questions
Can I rent without having had surgery?
Yes. A padel injury is enough, with no prescription.
Which wrap for which injury?
The elbow wrap for the elbow, the knee wrap for the knee, the calf wrap for the calf, and the ankle wrap for the ankle and the Achilles tendon.
How long does the rental last?
Two to three weeks in most cases. The dates are up to you, and the rental can be extended.
Can I rent the Game Ready and the Compex together?
Yes, in the Recovery Bundle, which costs less than renting both devices separately.
