Your Game Ready at home:
the practical guide
What you receive
The device is a Game Ready® GRPro 2.1, and it is made of four parts.
- The console. The central box. It holds a reservoir for ice and water, and a pump that circulates the cold liquid. It is compact and light, and sits on the floor next to your sofa or your bed.
- The hose. It links the console to the wrap. Both the cold water and the compression air travel through it.
- The wrap. The piece you wear over the operated area. You receive the one matching your surgery. It is shaped for that limb.
- The power cable. Standard, for any wall socket.
On delivery day
A member of the team comes to your home at the time agreed when you booked. Allow twenty to thirty minutes.
We set the device up in the room of your choice, ideally next to where you rest most often. When we arrive, the device is already filled with ice. We fit the wrap and run a first session together so you see exactly how it works. We go through the settings, temperature, duration and compression. You ask everything you want to ask.
When the team leaves, you are ready.
Preparing a session, step by step
This is the routine you will repeat several times a day. After two or three times it becomes automatic.
Three to four sessions a day in the first days after surgery, which is when swelling and pain are at their highest and when the device brings the most. Leave at least an hour between the end of one session and the start of the next. If a session leaves you exhausted, shorten the following one.
During the session
What is normal
- A controlled cold, sometimes intense in the first minutes, which becomes comfortable as the session goes on.
- A rhythmic compression: the pressure rises, holds a few seconds, drops, starts again. It is designed that way.
- A faint hum from the pump.
What should make you stop straight away
- Sharp pain, different from the usual post-operative discomfort.
- Numbness that persists beyond the treated area, with cold or unfeeling fingers or toes.
- Skin that is abnormally pale, bluish or mottled.
- A burning sensation or strong tingling.
In any of these cases, stop the session, take the wrap off and message our support.
Otherwise, this is a good moment to read, watch something, work quietly or simply rest. Many patients end up describing these sessions as the best break of their day.
Safety: the rules that matter
- Never apply the wrap directly on very sensitive skin. Put a thin layer in between.
- Do not go beyond 30 consecutive minutes in one session.
- Do not use it on an unprotected open wound or on uncovered sutures, unless your surgeon says otherwise.
- Report any abnormal sensation straight away.
- If you have circulatory problems, a neuropathy, Raynaud's syndrome, poorly controlled diabetes or any condition affecting sensation or blood flow, ask your doctor before using it.
- Keep the device out of reach of children while it is running.
Looking after the device
After each session, disconnect the wrap and the hose from the console. It stops you tripping over the hose or knocking the device over.
At the end of each day, empty the reservoir and dry the console with a dry cloth. Never put anything other than water and ice in it, no soap and no other product.
The wrap takes no product either. Let it dry open and flat, and never store it folded shut, which marks the cover. Store the console with the lid open so it air dries, and check that the hose is properly clipped and the cable is not bent.
If something goes wrong
You are not on your own during the rental.
Our support is on WhatsApp, and that is the fastest way to reach us: a technical question, a doubt, an unusual sensation, a fault. If you are running low on ice, tell us and we will point you to the easiest way to restock. And if the device stops working, which is rare, we replace it at your home quickly and at no extra cost.
What we care about is that you never lose a session because of a logistical problem.
Giving the device back
Let us know 24 to 48 hours in advance, a message is enough, and we agree a collection slot. Empty the reservoir, leave the wrap open and the hose next to the console. We come, we dismantle, we take it away. There is nothing else for you to do.
If the swelling still comes back at the end of the day when it is time to return the device, it is usually a sign that it is too early. A message is enough to extend, with no second delivery.
